Why we developed our Diversity Dough...
Our gut microbiome is AMAZING!! It plays host to trillions of bacteria that are responsible for a happy, healthy body. These beautiful bacteria living inside us love to feed and flourish on lots of diverse fibres and resistant starches. It's hard to get the required fibre and resistant starches into our diet each day to love up these precious bugs and create the diversity we need for a rocking gut microbiome. This is where the diversity dough comes in. It's jammed packed with just what your gut needs to keep you thriving!
Who is Diversity Dough for?
The Diversity Dough Starter is perfect for anyone wanting to gain or maintain optimum health and boost their gut microbiome diversity with an everyday food that is fibre rich and full of resistant starches, but without the sugars! By feeding our inner ecosystem you will aid in boosting your immune system, continue to support your metabolism and sustain overall health.
This seems different to traditional Sourdough...
Traditional sourdough is made by the fermentation of dough using naturally occurring lactobacilli and yeast. Our Diversity Dough is different. We wanted to make a dough that was a functional food. That is, it's main purpose is to serve you and your body and support optimum health. That's why we have created our dough using very specific culture strains and yeast shown in the research to support optimum gut health. Testing shows our dough contains a whopping 35 billion CFU (that's the beneficial bacteria in the dough).
Why do we ferment Prebiotic Starches & Fibre?
Unfortunately some of us have imbalances within our gut or our metabolism which means that we need to keep the sugar and carbs in our diet super low. However, it is essential to still have fibre rich foods in our diet to build and nurture a thriving gut microbiome. This is where fermenting enters the scene. Fermenting allows you to eliminate sugars such as fructose keeping it low carb and sugar free but preserves all the incredible properties of the food. Hello Functional Foods.
Is the Diversity Dough Starter ok for me?
Many of us have sensitivities or are at differing stages of healing. Our culture respects the need for easy to digest, low allergen ingredients that nourish and nurture. That's why our ingredients have been so carefully selected. When these ingredients are fermented the sugar is reduced to zero and all that is left is pre-biotic, gut loving fibres. An ingredient that you may be unsure has through the fermenting process been transformed and easy for you to digest.
