Bet You Didn't Know These Things About Your Favorite Fruits & Veggies
Hi ,
It's back to Monday again and we're on a brand new week. This week, we have a lot of new and fresh produce ready for you guys. Some of these include - apples, bananas, dates, avocadoes, strawberries, oranges, mushrooms, beetroot, cabbage, carrots.. and much more!
And because we want to start your week off with a bang, we'd like to share some cool trivia with you guys. Here are some fun facts regarding your favourite fruits and veg! Bet you guys didn't know them till now.
1. Granny Smith Apples - Due to the high acid content, these apples do not turn brown after cutting as soon as most other apple varieties. "Granny Smith" apples have firm flesh that holds its shape when slices are cooked until tender.
2. Strawberries Punnet - There are 200 seeds on an average strawberry. Plus, they're the only fruit to wear their seeds on the outside.
3. Dates Medjoul - naturally sweet and caramel-like, Dates Medjoul contain a variety of important vitamins and minerals. In fact, they contain more potassium by weight than bananas.
4. Beetroot- Eating raw beets or drinking beet juice helps combat garlic breath.
5. Yellow Carrots - The longest carrot ever grown in history so far measured around 6 meters long.
6. Snow Peas - Snow pea pods don’t have the inedible fibre that most pea pods have, which is why you can eat the pods.
7. Rocket Bunch - Some additional names are “rocket salad”, “rucola”, “rucoli”, “rugula”, “colewort”, and “roquette.”
